Here for you

Hi

Wow, time sure is flying. My boys are almost half way through their first term at school.

I'm not one for wishing time away but I am certainly grateful at the moment that it is whizzing by so fast as I am just hanging out for the end of our wet season. It sure seems to have been a much wetter season.

But on the upside, I have managed to do a bit more crafting which is always a good thing.

I made this card to add to my stash.

I'm trying to make use of the ever growing stash of DP scraps that I have and to also use a few stamps that have been neglected for a while now.

DP is from Stampin Up and the image is from an SU set called Asian Artistry.

Thanks for stopping by today

Make It Monday #26

Hi Happy Monday to you!!

This is my second post today, see my earlier post for details on this week's Kenny K challenge.

Here it is another week already and its Make It Monday #26!! Goodness me hasn't time flown!!

What a wonderful selection of cards that were submitted last week. I sure hope you all got a chance to see them. There were a couple of new faces again this week which is really great to see.

This week's featured blogger as chosen by random.org is.......................

Cherry from A Crafty Digger
with this fabulous boy's card.

I love this card! Such a gorgeous image!!

Cherry is one of the new faces from last week's Make It Monday and I'm so happy to be featuring her today.

I struggle with masculine cards but Cherry obviously doesn't have that problem, lol. Her colouring is fabulous and this image is so my boys! It is my youngest son's 5th birthday today and this image reminds me so much of him.

If you pop on over to Cherry's blog ( and I so hope you do) you will find a bounty of beautiful cards. In her most recent post here she has a quick little tutial on how to make these cute little flowers using card candy. How clever is that!!

The Make It Monday linky party is open again (see top of my blog).

Its a great way to show case your favourite card or project to new people. You can even revive an old post. So come along link up and check out the other submissions and remember is all about just sharing the creativity and you may even find yourself making some new blog buddies.

Mad For Markers - Crazy Hair Colouring

Hi

I have had the chance this week to get in to my craftroom and make a few cards for upcoming DT posts which you will see in the next few days. It is so nice to finally get back in to the swing of things.

I did my second day of my new job yesterday and I am LOVING IT!

The current challenge over at Mad For Markers still has a few days to go. There have been lots of fabulous entries. So much fun to see the different crazy hair colours people are coming up with.

For my card today I have kept it pretty tame by just adding some pink streaks in the hair. I quite like the look I have to say. I think if my hair was straight ( my hair is very curly and this time of year it is pretty much just a fuzz ball, got to hate the humidity!) I would definitely go with pink streaks.

I have used an image from Kenny K called "Wasn't Me".

I must have had my head on crooked when I made this card, cause I can plainly see now that the centre strip is definitely not straight.

There are still a few days to go with the current challenge so get your Copic Markers out and colour yourself up some fun with crazy hair colours and get it submitted over at the Mad For Markers Challenge Blog. I'd love to see what you come up with.

While you are at it hop on over to the Mad For Markers store and check out the new arrivals.

The Mad for Markers Store now is now stocking 'The Greeting Farm Stamps' and coming soon "La-La Land  Crafts Stamps!!

For all your Copic and related supplies head on over to Mad For Markers online store.
Mad For Markers post to Australia and New Zealand and stock a large range of Copic Markers, Blending Card, Masking Paper etc.

You can also check out the store blog and challenge blog for tips, tutorials and inspiration.

Make It Monday #24

Hi there my blogging friends, I hope you are all having a wonderful day.

My day was so busy it seemed to be time to pick up my boys from school before I knew it.

The boys have settled in so well to school this year, I'm so proud of them, and I have surprised myself just how quickly I have adjusted to having them all at school. I still miss them terribly but it is great to be able to set myself tasks and get them done :-)

I also start work this week for the first time in 8 years. Just one day a week to begin with in the office at the boy's school. I'm a bit nervous/excited but really looking forward to it. It does mean of course that I am going to have to be just that little bit more organised.

But for now it's Make It Monday time again and I am so pleased to have seen some new faces joining in last week.

I really enjoy visiting the blogs of those who link up each week. I find myself browsing through their blogs and finding endless inspiration from their gorgeous cards and projects, I hope you do too. That is the whole idea behind Make It Monday.

This weeks featured blogger as chosen by random.org is................................

Cathy Fong from Fong Crafty Place

A big bunch of love 2

Now this is what I was talking about! This is what is so great about the Make It Monday linky party. Finding wonderful new blogs full of inspirational creations.

Cathy is such a creative lady, her colouring is amazing and her cards are just so beautiful. Her blog is still relatively new and I know she would be thrilled to have you pop over and say hi.
(if you browse through to the earliest posts you will see that she is quite the talented artist too having handdrawn some of her own images.)

The Make It Monday linky party is open again (see top of my blog).

An Award from Shirley Ann and Alicia to pass on

Well, here's me following through on one of my new years resolutions!!

I was such a bad blogger last year and failed miserably at forwarding on all the lovely awards I received. But this year I aim to improve, so here goes.

I recently received this lovely award from Shirley Ann and Alicia. Thank you so much ladies for thinking of me.

This award however is slightly different from the usual awards you see. This award is to showcase some of the not-so-well-known blogs. We have some talented crafters out there and this is one way for you to find new and interesting blogs. All you have to do is nominate three to five blogs you read and want others to get to know .
If I tag you and you want to participate, create a post where you post the 'LOVE BLOG' image. You should also blog the persons link that gave you the award and inform her/him that you accept the award. You can then choose 3 - 5 favorite blogs which you also link in your post, then each blogger will inform you that they have been tagged.

I would like to showcase three wonderful blogs that I really enjoy visiting and I think you will too.

Beverley - Is a stampin' good time

Kaz - The Little Shabby Shed

Lorrinda - Isn't That Sweet?!
Please pop on over and say hi to these lovely ladies I know they will be thrilled you stopped by.

Special Note from the Originator:

The aim of this action is that we bring unknown, good blogs to light, so I would ask you not to blog fellow bloggers that already have 3,000 followers.

Choose blogs you think deserve more followers than they have, because they are very talented and make stunning cards...Please pop over and show them some love - honestly I promise you will NOT be disappointed.

Kerrie has created this wonderful book card for her Mum. Such a lovely keepsake that her Mother will treasure.

There many beautiful cards to be seen on Kerrie's blog so please pop on over and have a browse around. Don't be shy, be sure to say hi and leave her a little blog love.

Back home safe and sound

Hi

Wow, what an insane week it has been.

We arrived home last night after having been away for five nights thanks to Cyclone Yasi.

Early last week things were looking pretty grim here

this screen dump was from early on Tuesday morning I think. By later on Tuesday Cyclone Yasi was upgraded to a catagory 5 and was tracking a little further south.

We live just a little south of cairns and by lunch time it seemed we were in the direct path of this massive system so we decided to evacuate while we could. The word from authorities was either leave now or not at all. Having been through this experience with Cyclone Bobby in  Western Australia in 1995 during which my first husband died, I just did not feel up to bunkering down and hoping for the best..

We stayed in Townsville on Tuesday night and then decided to push on a little further south the next morning as they were predicting that the cyclone would now cross somewhere around Cardwell and that areas between Cairns and Townsville would be hit hard.

Accommodation was proving hard to find by this stage as lots of people had chosen to  head south and also emergency services personel were moving in to the area. We ended up having to travel to Rockhampton (just south of Yeppoon) to stay for the night (some 1000km from home).

My husband and I felt physically ill on Wednesday night as we watch the news for any and all information. We had no idea what the morning would bring. We worried for our friends and our home.

As it turns out the area in which we live was spared with only minor damage. The areas of Tully and Cardwell ( a little further south) were not so fortunate. I am sure by now you have all seen the pictures on the news of the devastation to these towns.

We had to wait a few days before we were able to travel home as the roads were cut due to flooding and debree.

I feel extremely grateful to have been spared and my heart goes out to all the families and businesses that have suffered terrible losses. The worry of course is that our cyclone season does not end until April so there is still the very real risk of further cyclones.

We are still cleaning up our yard and unpacking all the things we had stashed away in water proof boxes and cupboards etc last week so it will be a while before I am back online proper and can update my blog and choose the featured blogger for Make It Monday etc.

Thank you to all of you who sent emails and left messages while we were away.

Michelle :-)

Make It Monday #21

.
Hi

Well, first day of school is over and done! I'm so proud of my boys they took it all their stride. For those of you that do not know, My eldest son has Aspergers Syndrome and the youngest has High Functioning Autism. So for them it was a huge achievement.  I am happy that they all have great teachers and that they have some familiar kids in their classes.

And the biggest bravery award goes to.................ME!! I didn't even cry. Of course it really helped that Hubby was there to hold my hand, lol. We came straight home and spent two hours digging a trench and then got cleaned up and when out for our "lunch date". It was so nice. Just the drive in the car was surreal, we have not been alone in so long, it was strange to be able to actually talk as we drove along instead of listening to the fighting and whinging going on in the back seat.

But I am sorry that I am running late with this Make It Monday post.

This weeks featured blogger as chosen by random.org is.....................................

Janie Printz from Janies Creative Corner

with this sweet card

P1020002

Check out those gorgeous flowers and Janie's colouring is just fabulous.

Now Janie has a beautiful blogged filled with tonnes of stunning cards like this. If you browse around for a while you will find many inspriational projects to get your creative gears cranking.

Mad For Markers - Australia Day Colours

No Way!! Thursday again?! And its the third week of January already!

This is not good news for me, only 4 more sleeps until my youngest starts big school. Oh I am so not ready for this!

Moving right along, before I have to break out the tissues, lol. I have a card to share with you today for the current Mad For Markers challenge, which is a colour combo to use either Red White and Blue or Green and Gold.

For my card I have used Kenny K's digi image "Skateboard".

I really wanted this image to be 3D and pop off the page so I printed it twice and cut out the boy and the skateboard separately and stuck them on the the first image with some 3D tape. I tried to take a photo of it for you but it's a bit hard to see.

I even managed to decorate the inside of the card this time too.

Copics used to colour this image were:

Skin - E00, E000, E1 ,R20 and R22
Clothes, helmet and skate board - B21, B24, B26, B28, R24, R27,R29, C1, C3, C5, N0, N1 and N3

I used my red Spica pen to colour the red star on the front and the ones inside of the card.

You still have time to submit your project to our current challenge so come on, show us what you got!!

Head on over to the Mad For Markers Challenge Blog to get your daily dose of inspiration and to link up your creation. I can't wait to see it!!

Hi

Thought I would pop in quickly this morning and just let you all know that I am being featured today over at  Creating My Way To Success.

This is my friend Jill's blog and well worth a look.

Jill is an incredibly creative lady and has a love for all things upcycled. She is also very inspirational and motivational.

Being a wife and mother is a big job as we all know but Jill can add DIY home renovator, budding author and business entrenepaur to her resume. And in her spare time, lol, she throws in a bit of sewing for her home and family as well as custom orders and just for good measure each year she runs the Great Pyramid Race.

Make It Monday #20

.
Hi

Sorry I am running a bit late with this post today. My youngest son had his operation this morning to remove his Adenoids. All went well, but I didn't like watching him go under anesthetic. We were home by early afternoon and he is resting comfortably with his two older brothers at his beck and call to bring toys, change DVD's etc. Doctors orders are to keep him quiet and not let him run around for two weeks!! Obviously this Dr does not have or does not remember what it is like to have little boys!! LOL.

Now, on to this week's Make It Monday featured blogger as chosen by random.org .....................

This week it is Holly from Hog Wild About Stamping

with this incredibly creative gift

Holly is new to the Make It Monday linky party but I am so glad that she linked up this amusing and very creative gift idea and I was quite please when it was chosen to be featured this week.

When a daughter of Holly's friend went in to have breast reduction surgery she decided that this little book would be the perfect gift and I have to agree with her. It is filled with hillarious little corny rhymes and she even came up with her own "appropraite" wrapping for this gift too.

Hop on over to Hog Wild About Stamping to get all the details. While you are there have a good browse around her blog, it is filled with squillions of fabulous card ideas to inspire you.

The Make It Monday linky party is open again (see top of my blog).
Its a great way to show case your favourite card or project to new people. You can even revive an old post. So come along link up and check out the other submissions and remember is all about just sharing the creativity and you may even find yourself making some new blog buddies.

Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge #27 - Colour Combo

.
Hi

I hope everyone is enjoying a fabulous weekend!

I am heading in to my last week of school holidays now :-(. My youngest is off to hospital tomorrow morning to have his Adnoids out and his sinuses cleared. Yeuk! Hopefully recovery is pretty quick and we will still be able to make the most of this last week.

I have a card for you today which I made for this weeks challenge over at Kenny K's Krafty Girlz. It's a colour combo this week of Blue, White and Silver.

Now this was a challenge for me as this is a real winter colour combo and it is stinking hot and humid here at the moment so I really couldnt get my mojo working in that direction. So here is what I came up with.

I used Kenny's "Movie Star".

The prizes up for grab this week are a stamp set from CRAFTY EMMA'S STORE called "Paws Fur A Moment"

as well as 5 digi images of the winners choice from Kenny K Downloads.

Head on over to Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge Blog now and check out the rest of Team B's awesome cards for some inspiration and then get your cards linked up to be in the running to win these fabulous prizes. (Remember of course to be in the running to win you must use a Kenny K image.)

Mad For Markers New Challenge - Australia Day Colours

Hi

I feel like I have been glued to the TV or radio these last few days. The stories that are coming out about the floods in Queensland (and now NSW and Vic) are just incredible.

It is times like these though that I am incredibly proud to be Australian.  I know that we Australians are quite often knocked for our casual "She'll be right Mate" attitude but today we are showing the world that we are actually a nation of strong, proud and resilient individuals that instinctively pull together in times of need. Today it wasn't so much case of "She'll be right Mate" that I saw on the news, but rather a "Do you need a hand Mate" that made my chest swell with pride. There was footage of people in waste deep water working together to salvage what little they could before the expected flood peak in Brisbane. There were friends, neighbours and strangers all working together. So many tragic stories of devastation and loss are coming to light and I ask you all to spare a thought for the thousands of families affected and that are still enduring this slow motion distaster that is weaving it's way down our east coast.

You can donate to the relief efforts online at the Qld Premier's Flood Relief Appeal (International donations are also welcome)
Moving on now to the current challenge over at Mad For Markers which is quite timely really as Australia day is celebrated here on January 26th. We would love to see your creations in our national colours of RED,WHITE and BLUE or Green and Gold.

Finally

Hi

I have been saying for ages now that I really should get my sewing machine down and dust it off and try to learn how to use it. I see so many beautiful cards out there with real stitching and I just love the way they look.

Well, finally I have managed to give it a go.

Now be kind, this is my first attempt. Well, when I say first attempt, this is the first finished card. I did like a million practice runs on scraps of cardstock before I finally figured it out and got the tension right etc. It took quite a while and I'm proud to say I did it without teaching my boys any "bad words" to take to school in a couple of weeks, lol.

I used the "Whimsical Garden" set from Stampin' Up! and the Papers are SU as well.

I'm really happy with how this card turned out.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look today.

Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge #26 - LOVE

Well, that's the first week of 2011 done and dusted!!  Only two more weeks of school holidays, no way! I'm so not ready for my baby to start school, sob. :-(

And the worry too is that I wont have my boys school book lists filled in time either. The place where I took the lists to be filled still has not recieved their supplies due to the floods down south. Not that I am in any hurry to start covering the books, for all the things I do well, using contact to cover books is definitely not one of them.

Ok, I'm going to try real hard not to think too much about that yet. Let's move on to something way brighter like the new challenge over at Kenny K's Krafty Girlz challenge blog. This week Team A are on the job and the theme is LOVE.

As usual I couldn't help playing along with the challenge this week and I have used one of Kenny's new images "Sundae".

Kenny has a whole range of new image available in his store now just perfect for valentines cards.

Crafty Ribbons is sponsering the challenge this week with a selection of swiss dot ribbons up for grabs for the winner

along with five digis of the winners choice from Kenny K.

So hop on over to Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge Blog now and check out the Krafty Girlz inspirational cards and pick yourself up one of Kenny's images (have to use a Kenny K image to be in the running to win the prizes). There is a super cute freebie available here.

I look forward to seeing what you create.

Thanks for stopping by today.
